TAMPA, Fla. (June 12, 2019) – Savills has promoted Mike Griffin to market leader of the firm’s Tampa office, where he will oversee local brokerage and consulting practices while executing strategies to grow the company’s prominence in the area.
“Savills is well regarded in Tampa and throughout the Bay Area as a global leader in tenant-focused commercial real estate,” said Griffin. “The firm has added complementary service lines, invested in client technologies and made several key hires and acquisitions to support our core mission, which is excellence in tenant advisory services. I look forward to growing our presence and team while furthering our legacy locally as we continue to help our clients amplify the value of their workspaces.”
Griffin will continue to work with the Occupier Services team in advising statewide, national and international clients on integrated real estate services and solutions in addition to his leadership responsibilities. Over his career, he has completed transactions totaling more than 6.3 million square feet across the globe for diverse occupier clientele ranging from Fortune 500 companies to all levels of government. In the last few years alone, Griffin has spearheaded efforts that have resulted in cumulative savings to his clients in excess of $75 million.
Since 2004, he has been an active member of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was recognized in 2017 as the youngest chairman in its 130-year history. Former Florida Gov. Rick Scott appointed Griffin to the Tampa Port Authority Board of Commissioners in 2017 and he previously served as chairman of the University of South Florida Alumni Association Board of Directors. He joined Savills in 2015 following the firm’s acquisition of Vertical Integration. Griffin succeeds commercial real estate veteran Senior Managing Director Cheri O’Neil, who is returning to brokerage full-time and specializing in tenant representation, development, and investment sales.
“It has been an honor to lead such a dynamic group of professionals,” said O’Neil. “Mike brings extraordinary business acumen and industry experience, and I have great confidence in his ability to expand our profile in the market. I am proud to pass him the role of market leader and get back to my passion of advocating for my clients.”
O’Neil’s background in real estate accounting, property management, development, construction management, landlord leasing and investment sales, coupled with 35 years of market knowledge, has solidified her position as one of Tampa’s prestigious brokers. She is an award-winning expert in completing transactions involving Class A office and industrial space, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning, workplace utilization and efficiency and financial analysis.
Notably, O’Neil recently advised the PGA of America on its headquarters relocation from Palm Beach Gardens to Frisco, Texas, outside of Dallas. O’Neil led an integrated team of consultants and brokers who provided workplace assessment, workforce and incentives strategy, and financial analysis to secure the golf association’s new home and more than $20 million in incentives from public and private parties.
“The success the firm has had in the Tampa area would not have been possible without Cheri’s selfless leadership and unwavering commitment to our clients over the past 15 years,” said Chris White, vice chairman and Southeast region lead. “I would like to thank her for the countless contributions she’s made to Savills, and I look forward to her continued achievements in brokerage.”
Established in 2004, the Savills Tampa office has negotiated leases on behalf of local, regional and national tenants across various industries, including government, nonprofit, education, healthcare, legal, technology, financial and industrial users. The local broker and consultants offer comprehensive real estate advisory and transaction services that have earned the location a reputation for superior market knowledge, complex transaction management and exceptional results.
