As Executive Vice President of Operations for the Midwest Region, George Kohl applies best practices perfected during a long career in the commercial real estate industry to help Savills cultivate talent, streamline operations management and develop new and existing service lines to further strengthen the company’s position in the Midwest.
George joined Savills in 2017, bringing more than three decades of experience in the commercial real estate industry, most recently as Chief Operating Officer for Chicago-based real estate development firm Sterling Bay. In this role he was responsible for all aspects of operations including property management, leasing, engineering, construction services, legal and accounting. Kohl previously served as Trammell Crow Co.’s Managing Director for the Midwest trade area and Senior Managing Director for CBRE.
Awards, Achievements and Activities
During George’s time as chief operating officer at Sterling Bay, the company received some of the region’s most prestigious professional distinctions, including the NAIOP Chicago Developer of the Year award, the TOBY Gold Circle Building of the Year award and the Greater Chicago Food Depository/Crain’s Chicago Developer of the Year award.
He is a past president of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Chicago (2012-2014) and a board member of BOMA/Chicago Foundation. He is also a member of the Chicago Realty Club.
