Michael is vice chairman and co-head of Savills Capital Markets Group. In this role, Michael uses structured financial products, involving tax, capital and accounting strategies, to assist corporations, institutions and other real estate owners in maximizing real estate value. His service specialties include Capital Markets, Capital Transactions, Capital & Development Services, Financial Structuring & Engineering, Cross-Border Investment, Advisory Services, Build to Suit, Debt & Equity Financing, M&A Advisory, Portfolio Strategy, and Sale Leaseback.
Michael has completed financing and sale assignments worth more than $40 billion for numerous corporate and institutional clients. Michael was awarded the Real Estate Board of New York’s 2011 Most Ingenious Deal of the Year for acting as financial advisor to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey on the World Trade Center redevelopment. He was also awarded the 2009 Edward S. Gordon Memorial Award for the most ingenious real estate financing transaction in New York.
He joined Savills after 15 years at Cushman & Wakefield as Executive Vice President and President of Cushman & Wakefield Securities, Inc. where he was responsible for the firm’s investment banking activities. Prior to joining C&W, Michael was a partner in The Saratoga Group, an investment-banking boutique that specialized in structured financing for corporate and real estate clients. While at The Saratoga Group, Michael completed over $3 billion in advisory assignments and structured transactions.
Prior to The Saratoga Group, Michael served in investment banking positions at Dean Witter Reynolds Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and Merrill Lynch.
Awards, Achievements and Activities
Michael is currently a member of Real Estate Board of New York. Michael is a former board member of American Real Estate Investment Corporation, and Agree Realty Corporation serving on its executive committee. Michael was an independent member of a limited liability company holding more than $2 billion in real estate assets sponsored by General Electric Capital Corporation.
