As corporate managing director at Savills, Paul Hanafin serves the real estate needs of institutional investors, developers, and nonprofit organizations throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Paul specializes in development assemblage and investment sales, expertly advising the acquisition and disposition of commercially zoned land and quality improved real estate. To do so effectively, Paul utilizes his market insight and financial modeling to properly assess the short- and long-term value of land and improved properties and assists in developing asset strategies.
Over the course of his more than 25 years in commercial real estate, Paul has been directly involved in transactions totaling more than $5 billion. Prior to joining Savills in 2003, he worked for Insignia Financial.
Paul’s distinguished corporate clients have included Asana Partners, JBG-Smith, Principal Financial Group, JP Morgan Investment Management, Pacific Life Insurance Company, Grosvenor International, and Prudential Investment Management. His nonprofit roster has included, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The European Union, Save the Children, the Truth Initiative, and Population Services International.
Before becoming a tenant advisor, Paul spent 10 years as a United States foreign intelligence officer specializing in Middle Eastern affairs and counter terrorism.
Awards, Achievements and Activities
Paul received a ‘Transaction of the Year’ recognition for arranging the sale of a complex multi-use portfolio. He is currently a licensed broker in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. He has also conducted postgraduate studies in international affairs at Oxford University.
