Since joining Savills in 2017, Robert Elms has become an essential part of the firm’s Capital Markets Group as the head of debt and equity placements. In his role, Robert is responsible for arranging debt and equity real estate-related financings for corporate clients, real estate investors and developers. He is responsible for the packaging, marketing and execution of all transactions ranging from mortgage loans to highly structured transactions.
The Savills placement desk has placed several billions of dollars of commercial investments and maintains thousands of investor relationships including insurance companies, pension funds, REITs, banks, real estate fund operators and developers. Robert himself has completed sale and financing assignments for numerous corporate and institutional clients including Kraft, Bank of America, JP Morgan, AT&T, Ericsson, Verizon, NY Times, Williams Sonoma, Philip Morris, Brookfield and WP Carey.
Prior to joining Savills, Robert served as a senior managing director in capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield where he led the placement desk within the firm’s investment banking division. Earlier in his career, Robert was a vice president in JPMorgan’s Investment Banking Media group and played a key role in some of largest M&A and subsequent capital raising transactions in the media industry history. He has also been involved in structuring and raising close to $100 billion in the various capital markets ranging from IPO’s to syndicated bank deals.
