CHALLENGE

Macro, now operating as Savills Program & Project Management, was engaged to lead a complex restacking and phased relocation program for Interpublic Group (IPG) and several of its subsidiary companies, including McCann.

The assignment involved a 12-floor restack of IPG’s existing building, with multiple subsidiary groups occupying most floors. Each organization brought distinct operational needs, branding preferences, space standards, budgets, and team dynamics - alongside varying lease expiration dates and programming requirements. These variables introduced significant scheduling pressure and required careful coordination across stakeholders.

SOLUTION

When our team joined the engagement, construction was behind schedule and cost tracking lacked consistency. We immediately implemented disciplined budgeting, invoice management, and cost-control protocols, stabilizing the project and enabling contractors and vendors to mobilize more efficiently. We reestablished schedule momentum, mitigated risk, and drove the project back on track to meet critical deadlines.

RESULT

Throughout the engagement, stakeholder groups evolved and expanded. Our team served as a steady, experienced presence - maintaining alignment, enforcing accountability, and keeping decision-making focused on project priorities. Over a three-year period, we successfully managed the relocation of five additional IPG companies, delivering more than 100,000 square feet of additional space while maintaining schedule adherence and budget compliance across a highly dynamic portfolio.
