Renowned Industry Leader Geoffrey Newman Returns to Savills

Previously at Newmark, Newman was instrumental in forming the brokerage firm’s tenant representation platform; at Savills, he will serve as executive managing director

NEW YORK (September 7, 2021) – Savills today announced that Geoffrey Newman, a celebrated industry veteran, returns to the firm as executive managing director. Newman, who was at Savills from 2001-08, comes back to the firm after nine years at brokerage firm Newmark. He served as a key member of the firm’s tenant representation group and was responsible for transactions totaling more than 2,000,000 square feet at a combined value of $1,300,000,000.

“Geoff adds yet another widely respected talent to the firm’s notable roster of top professionals. As the commercial real estate sector continues to evolve rapidly, people like Geoff will further position Savills as the premier tenant advocate in the industry,” said Janet Woods, vice chairman and Northeast region lead for Savills. “His record of accomplishment speaks for itself. However, more than his ability to consistently produce for his clients, we are eager for his return to the firm because his philosophy and collaborative approach align perfectly with our culture.”

Newman specializes across several facets of the commercial real estate business, mainly brokerage, but he also has experience advising non-profits and religious organizations on ground-up development, air rights and construction management. He has represented a notable list of organizations throughout his career, specifically in not-for-profit and education sectors including The Community Church of New York, The Children’s Aid Society, The Community Service Society, The Mission Society of New York City and New School University. He represented Fotografiska, a Swedish center for contemporary photography based in Stockholm, in a 45,000-square-foot lease at 281 Park Avenue for its first North American outpost; its photography museum spans the entire building. While at Newmark, Newman was the recipient of the Real Estate Board of New York’s prestigious Most Ingenious Deal of the Year award in 2018 and was the runner-up in 2015.

“Geoff is a consummate professional, and a creative thinker who knows how to unlock value for his occupier clients,” said David Goldstein, vice chairman, Savills. “His approach aligns perfectly with Savills culture of advocacy. We are looking forward to him fitting in perfectly with our New York City team.”

Newman represents the latest top professional to join Savills. Recently, the firm announced the addition of T3 Advisors, A Savills Company, allowing the firm to enhance its real estate solutions for companies operating in the life sciences and technology sectors. Earlier this year, in New York City, the firm announced Jim Wenk, Kirill Azovtsev and Allison Buck as new hires; and in mid-2020, the return of two brokers, Jason Schwartzenberg and Michael Leff. In March 2020, Savills also acquired Macro Consultants, a leading project management firm.
