Annual JDRF Real Estate Games Raise Over $1 million for Diabetes Research

JDRF Games return in-person, raises second-highest fundraising total in its 33-year history

WASHINGTON (July 11, 2022) – For the first time since 2019, the JDRF Real Estate Games were in person, with events taking place this summer in Washington, Chicago, and New York. In its 33rd year, the JDRF Games, of which Savills is the founding partner, drew thousands of participants and volunteers from the commercial real estate community in the three cities, raising more than $1.1 million for Type 1 diabetes research.

Since Savills Vice Chair Adam Singer founded the Games in 1990 in the District of Columbia, the Olympics-style fundraising event has grown significantly and raised more than $11 million. Singer was diagnosed with diabetes in 1978 at the age of 18. He has served as director emeritus on the JDRF International Board since 1990 and continues his mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes with Savills support.

“With over 30 years of successful JDRF Real Estate Games, I am honored that my fellow Savills partners and the larger commercial real estate industry continue to come together for such an important and personal cause. This over-the-top, fun event has become the key philanthropic and most attended real estate event in DC. I know we will continue to expand the Chicago and New York City Games, with a target on Nashville for 2023,” said Singer.

Savills Rich Plonsker, who founded the Chicago Games, served as co-chair of the city’s fifth annual event on May 12. John Johnson, one of the first event chairs for the New York Games, and Julia Heriford of Savills New York office co-chaired the seventh annual event on June 16.

“Savills employees have a shared passion for supporting the communities in which they work and live across the globe. Philanthropic efforts like the annual JDRF Games reflect our passion for our communities, unique life experiences and gifts of the firm’s local talent. Congratulations to Adam and all participants in this year’s games for their dedication to a great cause,” said Ann Duncan Inman, Savills vice chairman, chief strategy officer and chief diversity officer.
